The literacy implications of APP for Science (KS1 and KS2): Specialist Training Day

In collaboration with All Saints CE Junior School, East Sussex, we are offering a one day in-service training open to all interested schools in the area. We would like to invite your staff to participate in this popular and extremely well received course originally delivered in London by blen.

Date: Thursday, 21^st July 2011

Time: 10.00 a.m – 4.00 p.m

Venue: All Saints Junior School, Saints Road,Hastings TN35 5JU

Tutor: Rosemary Feasey

Fees: £85.00 inclusive of handouts, refreshment and follow up

Within the context of literacy in and through science and scientific language the day will cover:

· an update on APP

· setting a range of activities in science that help to cover all AFs 1,2,3,4,5

· levelling in science activities

· identifying levels and evidence

· scientists and ideas of using the news to stimulate debate, discussion and practical activities

Any changes in the curriculum will also be addressed.

There is also a specialist exhibition of science resources and materials for KS1 and KS2.

The tutor is Rosemary Feasey, the leading expert in primary science development and training, Primary Professional Development leader at the Science Learning Centre North East, former chair of the Primary Committee at the Association for Science Education, co-author of Star Science, the UK’s best selling primary Science scheme and author of a range of publications.
