blen’s
interest in SLL is focused on general literacy development and
scientific language and literacy during the formative period
of KS2 to KS3 (primary and lower secondary). An annual conference
is held in the spring/summer term bringing together science
and literacy teachers, science advisers/literacy advisers and
researchers to deliver a programme of up-to-date policy and
practice.
The published
occasional paper is professor Wynne Harlem’s Talking Science:
Language, learning and Understanding Science.

conducted a highly commended school-based project in KS2-KS3,
on pupils’ attitude to science based on their KS2 and 3 learning
experience both within and outside school for Jack Hunt School,
